Pooja went to school for Engineering and Journalism, not because she likes both majors, but because she was afraid of being disowned by her family. Being in middle of nowhere Pennsylvania while studying Engineering was not her dream so she graduated college in three years .

As a writer, she uses humor to portray common struggles minorities face every day. Still, her main goal is to make people laugh. She believes in the power of laughter to make people open their hearts and empathize with the ‘other.’ In her opinion people in the spotlight have a responsibility to be the voice for those who are silenced and oppressed in today’s society. The characters in her scripts always come from diverse backgrounds.

After a few years of trying various avenues of comedy, her pilot became a semifinalist for Made In New York Writers Room and her play got featured on a Peabody nominated show on Fusion TV. Both these accomplishments got her family from being complete non-believers to “maybe” believers.
